Vintage Jewelry

Vintage items are becoming extremely popular among today’s society.  There are many types of vintage jewelry and they date back from 20-100 years.  However, as they get older they become more valuable and thus more expensive.  Older jewelry is often very costly so companies have begun to manufacture lookalikes of older jewelry.   Also, there are many types of jewelry from silver and gold with diamonds to plastics and beads.  There are types of jewelry that are very specific to each generation and most are available authentically or reproductions.

The two most popular types of fine vintage jewelry are rings and earrings.  Throughout history there have been different styles of diamond cuts and different trends in the use of silver and gold.  You can often tell what era a piece of fine jewelry is from because of the style and design of the piece.  Rings are great example of this because they display the most diversity in make.  All rings, look similar to each other, however their design and style can make a huge difference in appearance.  Earrings are popular because they look extremely different depending on their era.  They can be large or small, solitaire or dangly, diamond, metal or even plastic.  Earrings are also great ways to accent your attire so they have remained popular over many generations and usually withstand the test of time.

Beaded jewelry has also been common throughout many eras of the past.  You can find beaded vintage jewelry made of plastic or wood beads and even pearl and stone beads.  The most common pieces of beaded jewelry that are available are necklaces.  Beads have a tendency to break and their strands are sometimes easily broken.  Because of this many vintage necklaces are actually vintage reproduction necklaces.  It is also difficult to tell what era a necklace is from, and while it will always look beautiful it may not always appear classic.  However, there are few styles of beaded necklaces and even bracelets that became popular in the 1960’s and 70’s.  Wooden beads were extremely popular in this era as well as large and bright plastic beads.
